Rain barrel made from recycled material

The Green Basics Rain Barrel Plus is a solution for anyone who is economical on water for use in the garden. With a generous capacity of up to 110 litres or 200 litres, this rain barrel offers sufficient capacity to collect and store rainwater for when it is needed. The plastic barrel and base must be able to withstand a water load when the rain barrel is full. This means a load of up to 200 kilograms!

FEM-analyses of the rain barrel base

The base of the rain barrel has been analysed and optimised by BPO, so that the product is strong enough and does not collapse under the forces exerted on it. It must withstand the most extreme conditions, such as a full rain barrel and prolonged exposure to the sun, such as in warm countries. As a result, the temperature of a black rain barrel can reach up to sixty degrees Celsius. This can reduce the stiffness and also the stability of a rain barrel that has to hold a load of up to 200 kilograms.

Thanks to these optimisations, Elho was able to design a rain barrel that lasts a long time and is reliable in use. The product is made from 100% recycled material and produced using wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly choice. In addition, the rain barrel is fully recyclable, which means that it can be disposed of responsibly at the end of its life.
